You're invited to join the Flint Riverkeeper and the Georgia Conservancy on the banks for the Upper Flint River at the Gerald I. Lawhorn Scout Base, near Molena, GA, for a family style campout & outdoor adventure trip this fall.
The price is also family friendly: $50 per person, $90 per couple, $245 for family includes a tent (camping tent or in a shelter), food and a guided canoe trip or hike along the Flint .
Friday night will feature “Tent Camping Basics” led by REI instructors, cookout, campfire, s’mores, environmental education activities and an owl prowl. Keeping it Wild's Evonne Blythers, Darryl Haddock and Bryan Schroeder will be on hand to help assist folks camping for the first time.
Saturday morning will feature a “tike hike” for children 10 and under, and a guided canoe trip down the river for ages 11 and up.
Both groups will meet at Sprewell Bluff for a lunch on the banks of the Flint.
Meals, camping equipment and canoes will be provided. Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
The Flint Riverkeeper and the Georgia Conservancy will also host a BBQ and bluegrass "River Celebration" featuring the Packway Handle Band on Thursday night, before the campout. Details to follow. Please contact a Georgia Conservancy and Flint Riverkeeper staff if you have any questions.
